AETHER EOS

Aether Eos is a collaborative duo with New York-based violinist, composer, and visual artist Leah Asher. Established in 2017, our mission is to build upon the violin-piano repertoire by exploring the intersection of composition, performance, and improvisation in the music of today. As composer-performers ourselves we seek out projects that engage directly with issues of performance practice and present programs that put on display the rich diversity in which contemporary concert music finds its expression.

Aether Eos has been presented by Codes d’accès (Montreal), Constellation (Chicago), and MISE EN_PLACE (New York). As guest artists of the 2017 Montreal Contemporary Music Lab they conducted a graphic scores workshop and performed works by Iannis Xenakis, Eric Wubbels, and both performers. A 2019 tour of midwestern schools brought Aether Eos to Ball State University, Western Michigan University, College of the Ozarks, and Western Illinois University, featuring performance masterclasses, student reading sessions and performances that included world premieres of works by Chin Ting Chan, Pang Chun-ting, and Luke Carlson (WIU performance video recording available here).
